  • Grenadier and over spray on prints.

    Hi All,

I’m getting a bit concerned about my Uniform Grenadier printer. I’ve been experiencing what looks like over spray on my prints. Where there is white space faint marks of the closest colour is going onto my prints. It’s like it’s a mist of ink being attracted to the white. I have changed the vinyl to a poster paper and printed the same file with the same settings on that and prints fine.

Do you think that I am getting a static build up while the machine is printing onto vinyl and making this happen?

If anyone else is experiencing the same or has, what did you do to over come this problem. I am having the machine serviced soon and I am hopping this will cure it.

    HI Mark,

We had a similar problem with our Grenadier. Your probably not want to hear this but it sounds like one of the heads is damaged. Do a print test and see if any of the lines are missing or squint this will be able to determine any problems.

    Hi Steve,

I would say it was a head going, if it did it on all types of media. It did it on the vinyl but when I swapped it over for poster paper to test with the same file, it printed perfectly. All my heads are printing fine when doing a print head test, just got one or two nozzles not firing on a few heads. I don’t get it. Its very strange.

I’ll try on some banner next to see if it does that on there.

    Thanks for your view though.

Hi Steve, take a look at the link below. Did yours do this.

You can see what I’m on about and that the rest of the print is fine.

Haha. I thought it was a bit weird. Just going to say as well that the overspray only happened on certin materials as well. Paper was o.k but Vinyl and especially lightstop were noticible.

    Hi Steve,

Having my machine serviced today. The engineer had a look at my over spray problem and says that my machine is suffering from static. He told me to put an anti static mat under my machine and it should go away. He said my heads are fine. Thank god for that
