• Graphtec problem

Posted by Neil Davey on 23 August 2010 at 09:36

Hi, we turned on our Graphtec CE3000 this morning which is used regularly and the carriage moves very slowly across and stops at the very end and ‘Y Position Alarm flashes.

The ‘Sheet’ setting occasionally works and the carriage moves freely when switched off.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

my guess is its not reading the pinch roller positions.
some graphtecs have a mirror silver bit on the pinch wheel holder that if missing does as you described.

    Thanks Chris,

    slight update……

If we push the carriage right across to the right hand side while off and then switch on it starts up correctly. But trying a second cut it goes back to the fault???

don’t know really but i have confused mine when switching it off as it tries to do a sheet cut off and i did not want it to.
think the cure was to switch off then manually push the head in to the pin on the left end
    then switch it on.
    else give graphtec a call

I had a similar problem on ce 5000. it turned out that the problem was the sensor right underneath the head of the plotter which reads the pinch rollers position. Only thing i had to do to get it working was to firmly push it to the left or to the right… it seems that this sensor is fixed on only one axis and therefore can be turned. maybe yours got loosen?
