• Golf Signs

    Hello all from Paulsad
I’ve just been asked about doing some signs to go on each tee at the local golf course (no thats not where I’ve been all these months!)
As they are a bit tight on funds I’ve suggested a vinyl on say forex application with a heavy perspex sheet covering this. These are to be screwed onto flat rocks near each tee and have to be weatherproof and as near vandal proof as we can get. Each one has a small picture of the hole layout, yardages etc. 20 off (2 extra for the lady ***!**!! golfers tees).
    My questions are
Who do I get thick perspex off (cut to size preferably)?
or is there a better way to do whole job.

    Thanks and all the best
    Paul

    Hi Paul,

I did some of these and edge printed them on clear vinyl then applied them to the back of UV stable 5mm polycarb and backed them off with white vinyl. It worked a treat and the poly carb means that the prints should last quite a while out in the sunlight. I get the polycarb from either Amari or Cox plastics, stock item for both I think and the will cut to size for you.

Cheers Nigel sounds a neat idea – I could always do one as a demo for them first.

For a much more robust sign, I think engraved suregrave material could be the better option for this job. Comes in a variety of colours and thicknesses and will outlast anything apart from stainless and brass.

    hi paul
we did loads of these for a local golf club also. like your customer, they complained of funds.
basicaly waht we did was simular to nigel.
we had something like a 22″x22″ decorative slab.
we took 5mm polycarb clear and cut into 20″ x 20″ squares.
cut vinyl text in reverse and applied to the rear of polycarb. then covered in white vinyl.
we then run clear silicon around the edge and the middle of the rear of the polycarb and sat in place. we then drilled four corners and applied some screws with bin-lid white caps. this pulled the polycarb tight to the slab and let the silicon gib all around the edge to stop fingers from getting under the edges to pull on it.
remember not to put too much silicon around the dge or it smears out all over and can be a buggar to clean.

ideal world like “signdevil” has said would be to reverse engrave of simular. but most golf clubs claim to be broke. 🙄
