Glue for locators
Posted by Jayne Marsh on 6 September 2005 at 16:54Can anyone tell me what type of glue they use to fix locators to foamex. I have a few letters that need locators on for a short amount of time (exhibition job ) and I dont want to have to buy in a big box of glue for a small job. Can anyone suggest an alternative glue that I can use?

Yeah, PVC pipe cement. Osma or similar. Shit to a blanket. You may have to ask for it as most DIY shops don’t keep it on the shelf. Smells a lot, open the windows! Travis Perkins sell it.

you can buy pvc pipe cement in small tins but we buy the big 5 litre tins which proves more cost effective and lasts for months

i’ve found that the pipe cement works on acrylic but not so well on foamex

You must be talking about a different pipe cement then.
The stuff I use is designed for use on PVC, and sticks foamex permanently, forever. So there. 😛

Unfortunately i haven’t found that pipe cement is of any use bonding acrylic, i use tensol 12 or 70 for that, although i’ve found that if you mix tensol 12 and pipe cement it is a good combination for glueing foamex to acrylic
