    hi guys,

not sure if this is the correct forum so apologies..

we are about to be given a very old edge and cutter.

it’s been standing still for a number of years so not sure of the condition yet.

Ideally i would like to get an estimate to clean and get the machine working. other then Spandex is anyone aware of a company that can quote us?

it’s totally free so i’m happy to spend a bit of cash on it but don’t want to spend several thousand on a machine that will only be used for labels etc.

i’ve never used one but two of our staff have. Anything i should look for?
    thanks in advance.

    Rick

Our Edge2 hasn’t required much cleaning. Using Isopropyl and wiping down the printheads and using a brush to clean the teeth feeding the vinyl has been the only cleaning required. The machine has 2 vinyl squeegees that might need replacing, costs close to nothing and a foil squeegee (shaped like a Z) that might need replacing.

If you’re missing a pixel on the printhead it starts to get expensive though. Printhead replacement + labour is around €1400. Foil tension motor is around €200. Other then these parts, we’ve never replaced anything on our Edge2.

I’m asuming the basic design is the same between the Edge and Edge2.

I’m loving the Edge2 we have, it’s a really versatile machine capable of printing on a number of substrates other machines struggle with. The downside is that’s it’s rather small, slow and requires you to change foils manually.

Spandex might not be interested if it’s a MK1 as they have stopped supporting them (hot)
We have one and i’m just waiting for it to die 😮 saying that all its needed has been a new print head and a service. 😀
