  • Getting Rid of Avoiding Mirror Effect Applying Stonechip?

    Hi all

When I purchased my Ariel Atom, one of the first things I did was to apply see-through Hexis Carprotect to the matt-black suspensions struts. It stayed there for the 5 years I owned the car 🙂 and protected the struts.

I’ve been asked to make a set for another owner and he wants to know how to stop that ‘mirror/glassing’ caused by air getting trapped beneath the vinyl – it does look horrible against a mat-black strut.

How would you advise a complete novice to apply this stuff avoiding the effect?

    Cheers

    John

    Thanks Chris

I have the patterns to cut to exact measurements – did that before I sold my Atom 🙂

I read somewhere that a spot of baby shampoo in a spray bottle of water makes for easier positioning – is this right? Do you have to squeegee out all the water or will it eventually dry away?

    Thanks again

That will do just fine a bit of squeege and a little heat

black vinyl laminated with stonechip, silvering has gone and vinyl is easier to apply.

Thanks Steve – I actually bought 3 different finishes of the StoneProtect vinyl – gloss, matt & black 🙂
