Gerber omega wierd sequence plotting??
Posted by Paul J Gray on 15 September 2010 at 09:52Hi
Using Gerber omega cutting software the plotter seems to have a mind of its own and cuts the plot file randomly. It will cut the file properly and eventually, but will not cut as the file was created??
Any clues anyone??

in gspplot you can go into LAYOUT – SEQUENCE PLOT and this will stop the knife travelling from one end to another as the file was created but which is handy on bigger text/graphics or a long job. hope this helps

Try copying and pasting the whole thing into a new file then renaming it.
Ungroup it then regroup it, that might help too.
Unfortunately the Gerbers don’t understand swearing, even real colorful cuss words.
But they make me feel better.

When we was running omega, I dont remember any sense to the cutting sequence, our new plotter has a command that cuts down the back/forth movement but dont remember omega having it.

Maybe Tony Teveris (Gerber guy) will see this topic and respond.
He’s great at helping. -
Paul, if you want you can email me the PLT file so I can see why Sequence Plot is not doing the job. What version of Omega software are you using? I’ll be happy to look at it.

HI Tony
It happens with any plt file. New one or old. We’re running 2.5 Omega. It also happens with all the plotters we have too.

With seq plot turned on (not sure it’s a preferenced item so you need to check it everytime) shapes should be cut in a bottom to top left to right order. I do remember we found something wrong in the process when doing Omega 3.0 that might be effecting what you see but I do not think it was that bad. That bug was in the code for better then 10 years. It’s hard to find a 2.5 system around here these days but I’ll look.

Thanks for trying. We’re pulling out teeth here!
