Gerber Edge Foils
I have just had a phone call from Spandex asking why i am not ordering foils from them seeing as they gave me a good discount off the spot colours. But being a member of this site i am aware that other companies were being charged less – in the case of process colours half the price £39 compared to the £70 I was charged and in the case of spot £2 a foil less (45mt foil). Now according to Spandex there was nobody paying £37 and £39 for spt and process, but of course I know people that are paying those exact prices. So I told them I would not be buying my foils from them. Within 2 minutes I had a phone call from the area sales rep offering me £37 and £39 what a surprise! What was more surprising was his attitude to you guys – prices given out to various companies were confidential and only “Cowboy” (:) companies would divulge these on a web site. I have no intention of buying my foils from Spandex, I have always had an excellent service from Print One and will continue buying from them. In fact I will now be trying them out for process colours aswell.

Well said mate.. I agree 100% with your decision.
I have heard from other members of this site that have spoken to spandex reps about “that site” & “that group” meaning (uksignboards.com & UK Sign Group) they seem to look down their noses at the site & us a group. Whatever, I, we, the site, are not going to go away. It’s about time they realised it & either got on with it or play ball with the rest of us like many other suppliers are choosing to do. Not because they have to, but because they see a long term benefits both sides of the fence.We have half a dozen spandex staff from the uk and other countries full registered on the boards. So they are fully aware what is going on here, yet choose to lurk & sneer when we are mentioned.
i for one do not think dave standen and print one are anything but proffessional, with excellent products & i am sure many will agree. 😉

I think loyalty has to go both ways, and i would hope that any supplier I deal with would pass on any discounts to myself and not just give them to new customers. Were not talking a small amount of money here – we were paying £31 more than other people and thats on a 45 mt foil. We spent over £1400 on foils alone within the last month( mainly spot but some process ).
Three years ago we bought 95% of materials from Spandex + the Gerber Edge because of the almost don’t care attitude we are now down to the 740hp for helmet labels and squeegee covers and that is all. We will definately be in the market for some form of new print and cut system in the near future.
You would think that they would realise the value of the uksignboards site, it is an excellent resource site for all signmakers and as more people get to hear about it can only get bigger and better. I don’t post as much as other people but have still gained an enormous amount of information just from logging on and having a read.
