  • GCC Sable cutter. Please help with software.

    Hey guys.

Long time lurker and first time poster so to speak.

I have just upgraded from Rabbit cutter to GCC Sable cutter which is better in my eyes as small font can now be cut precise without it looking like a kid did it with a pair of scissors. Also 3m tracking is a big plus for larger jobs than Rabbit.

However, i have being using SignBlazer software with rabbit which i love and is EASY to use.
GCC works with Corel, as theres no support for sign blazer.

So now i have new cutter and am forced to use Corel X4 which i never used as i always used Illustrator for vector creation so the switch is bit odd.

Is there any sign cutting software thats as flexible and as easy to use with GCC Sable as SignBlazer??

Any help is most appreciated as its driving me crazy and my work is delayed now due to dramas with Corel.

    Thanks guys.

Good morning Spike, and welcome to the board. An introduction in the Say Hello forum would be appreciated.

If you’re familiar with Illustrator, can you not get a driver plug-in to run your GCC direct from that? Have you tried the GCC website?

I’d be very surprised if such a thing wasn’t available.

    Good morning.

Yes yes i know wheres my manners, i will do this soon. 😉

Now the thing is i use Illustrator for vector editing, creating and manipulating which is still not the ideal too l to use when it comes to outlines, shadows etc. Besides a cut manager would be required to save on material and for ease of cutting.

GGC recomends signpal. But i would like to know if there is a stand alone software "like" sindblazer.

Sorry for the pain just need to know 🙂

Right. I’m not sure what you’re looking for now. 😀

We use Illustrator for everything, including outlines, shadows etc. Fair enough, it’s not the one click operation that it should be with a dedicated sign programme, but easy and quick enough once you’ve had a bit of practice.

The Illustrator plug-in supplied with a new Graphtec is a cut down version of Flexi. It has a cut manager, but I’m not keen on it because it is just an added complication.

We use Mimaki plotters which come with the FineCut plug-in. That doesn’t have a cut manager as such, but does enable us to specify cutting size, quantity, layout on the vinyl etc etc. We’ve never felt a need for anything more complicated than that.

I still think you should have a look on the GCC site to see if there is a downloadable Illustrator plug-in available. It might be just what you need, as an Illustrator user anyway, and should be free, so you will lose nothing by giving it a try.

Sp1ke, SignPal is a OEM version of FlexiSign, I think you would find it very easy to use, but has John said, if you already work in Illustrator then why don’t you just use the plug-in.
