    Hi all,
I have been lurking on this site for a couple of years and finding lots of interesting and helpful points.

I am a signwriter of some 30 years, having a "one man band" in the south west of Western Australia. For the past 20 years, like the majority of us who predominately use vinyl, I euphemistically call myself a plastic surgeon 🙄 (if only we earnt the same money).

I am a dinosaur that only has a vinyl cutter (i.e., no digital printer), but I find, with a cutter, a laptop, some paint and some brushes, I can be mobile and head off into the bush whenever I like and do work in country towns that don’t have resident signwriters. I particularly love heading north in Western Australia to a region known as the Pilbara (where there is a lot of iron ore mining)…..as long as you can put up with the heat, the flies, the dust and the wind, it’s all good 😎

Welcome Chris, I was born in WA many moons ago, still have family in Narrogin, kalgoorlie, Mullewa, geraldton and wagin.

My cousins and uncles are farmers, Triple trailer truck drivers etc….

My family moved to the east in ’69……

Good to have you here buddy.

Thanks John, Nicola and Shane for the welcome 🙂

Shane, I grew up in NSW and headed west in 1982 on my first signwriting foray around Aus. under the tutelage of another signwriter, Milton Reid of Coonamble. We had a fantastic time working and seeing the sights at the same time. I did a reverse trip in 2008-09 and met a few other signwriters doing the same thing.

John, travelling and working around Australia is a reasonably popular pastime, especially as you get older.
😥 ……I guess if you are tied to a workshop situation with staff and other commitments, it is certainly harder to hit the road no matter where you are.
