I have a customer wanting freezer labels, the type that go on to the bags. Are there any catches to printing these, like special food grade materials/ink etc. Anyone done them before?
Can’t see it being a problem using any vinyl/paper as the labels go on the outside of the bags, not the inside. Most supermarkets sell paper lables to stick to bags so I can’t forsee any problems!
As someone who has printed labels for a customer using a digital press all I can say is BEWARE. We did some for someone and they stock them in a freezer and unsurprisingly came back complaining that the stickers had peeled off. The problem is not with inks or the substrate it is with the adhesive, it has to be specifically freezer adhesive, other stuff even when it is ‘permanent’ simply becomes brittle and looses all adhesion.
