I finally got a piccy of a sign I did earlier this year, I had to supply the sign and they fixed it. It has slide in strips so that dates and events can be changed when needed. There were two of them and they were fitted onto posts at a railway station in Prestatyn. Its a sign I really enjoyed making. 😀

nice sign jane, how did you go about creating tha slat system?
is it made up or did you buy in channels for it…

thanks for taking the time to post your work 😀

    Hi Lyn,
I got the sign made to my spec from a local sign firm with a router, it was cut to shape from dibond and the sliders were made from dibond that slid into slots made from foamex glued and riveted into place.

Lovely sign Jayne, I love the design of the logo. So tell me how you change the slats, as there seems to be another slat covering the end (or is this screwed from the back to stop little toe rags removing the slats).

    Cheers

Love the sign Jayne, I was thinking the same as Dave (love the new pic too dave)

Well done. What thickness was the dibond? and did you have blind fixing from behind, or was it fixed to slats?

Just being nosy. Got a sign like this to go up at a theme park, and have been trying to think how I;ll do it. Was originally thinking weathetex (compressed timber) never thought about dibond

The sign was made from 3mm dibond and was fixed using channel on the reverse ( 3 strips in total ) then the sign was fixed using square post clips which slid into the channel on the back, 6 post clips in total. Tha channel was fixed onto the sign using VHB tape and then rivetted. The slats sliders were made from two layers of foamex glued onto the sign one layer to leave a gap for the sliders and one with a slight overlap to hold the sliders in position. ( Im not very good at explaining sorry ). The sliders were made from 3mm dibond. As for the slat on the end I think the customer has added this himself as the sign didnt have that on when I supplied it. A good idea though but I wish they had trimmed it to line up with the bottom of the sliders 😕
Shane, I love the new piccy, took me a minute to realise who it was :lol1:

    Thanks for the explanation.

As for the pic, can you tell I’m holding my gut in? It was my attempt at a Mr Universe pose. I was going to take my shirt off, but the wife begged me not to. I couldn’t stand it. I’ll do anything if it makes a woman stop crying 😛

Tis ok Nick, I agree with you, personally I wouldnt have used wooden posts with out either painting them or staining them. 😀
