I cull fonts every once in a while.
Don’t like too many running in Flexi.
Certainly wouldn’t have thousands, I just disable fonts and turn them back on if and when I need them.

Problem with installing fonts into the windows fond directory is that it will slow your machine down and you don’t really need them all to be there.
I have the fonts I like and use regularly installed but if I need a font for a customers job once the job is done I will normally remove it unless I know I am going to need it again soon.

    Martin
I am not sure if a large font folder does slow down a machine, it may have done pre xp. but I have about 6000 fonts installed without any noticable difference in speed.
I use signlab, which has its own font organiser, so i can categories the fonts by client, style or any other way I chose, so dont have to mess about installing and uninstalling fonts, they are all there when I need them

it used to be a problem with older file systems like windows 98… not so much now

Peter it will still slow a machine down but I must admit if you have a reasonably up to date machine then you probably won’t notice it. The new version of Vinylmaster has a font management program so when that arrives I will be able to do the same as you do with signlab.
