    Hi Sign heads,

Anyone know where i can find decent instructions on folding dibond panels?
    Key Queries:
    1. Whats the cheapest hand held router for this type of job?
    2. How does one rout a straight line?
    3. Whats the best way of securing the folds?

I’m a lowly Graphic designer so ignorant in this respect. Appreciate any feed back.

    Cheers.

You could always invest in a membership for the forum so you could see the tutorials, there is one on making Pan signs I believe, plus you would learn lots about all sorts of other useful things.

Any router should do the job, in fact the bit you need could end up costing more than the router if you just want something cheap.

If you want straight lines then use a guide, some routers come with one which would probably do the job or just clamp a straight edge in place.

I use a piece of right angle ally at the corners but there are other methods.

If your only using routers as and when and are not really bothered, then just buy a basic, but if not I can thoroughly recommend an Elu soft start. The soft start makes life so much easier, and makes for a nicer job if you’re trying something tricky. Mine was a couple of hundred quid, twenty years ago, but it’s done masses of good work over that time so it’s proved a very shrewd purchase.
