  • Foison C24 driver issue – help please?

Posted by Steve Underhill on 27 November 2009 at 07:56

    Hi all.
Been very busy so not been about for ages, I have just bought some gear of a competitor who is no longer in the trade and swapped his Foison C24 cutter for a projector I had, It seems ok in fact quite a decent machine which will do as a nice backup for My Roland, however I cannot install it on either a windows XP or Vista computer, does anyone have any experience with this cutter at all?
I have downloaded the latest USB driver from signwizard but to no avail
    all help or pointers appreciated
    cheers
    Steve

Hi Steve, If you do a search through the boards I’m sure someone posted on here how to set up a usb cutter. Loads of peeps where having trouble with the – eh – cheaper kind of cutter :lol1:

Good to hear from you again – thought you’d given up 😀

    Cheers John

I started out with a Foison and it only lasted me a few weeks before I gave in with it. I was running XP and the drivers would just randomly uninstall for no apparent reason.

lol have to look at buying other options, I downloaded a demo of flexi that wont allow cutting and seems to be ok just cant get it to cut, so have brought my Roland up here
as well till I can sort something.

Steve, goto http://www.macromonster.com and look up the ecut programme they have there. Apart from loads of sign specific features you can cut from Corel to a host of cutters. I’m not sure about the Foison but certainly alot of the Chinese ones are there including Redsail, Pcut etc. If you want confirmation regarding the Foison drop Jeff an email from there.

Hi Steve, Do what I do, design in coreldraw, convert to curves and then export as an eps. Import into artcut and cut. Artcut is pretty bad but as a cutting program its fine.

    Cheers John

Steve, you don’t have to convert to curves on the document, do the conversion when you export to eps or AI by selecting text to curves in the dialog box.

Make sure the one you have is the stepper motor and not the servo, i think that the servo version was either black or very dark grey, stepper was i think white in color

Do you mean the colour of the plotter ?
If so she’s grey and black ! She’s an 08 model, but brand new, never used it !
I loaded the drivers on the laptop, and then the house move happened, then 2x more kids and here I am !!! Lol

Yeah sounds like the servo Version, look on the backplate it should say servo or stepper! Servo’s better!

email then, their usually quite good, let them know the model and that you need drivers! mind you the site is pretty rubbish!
Used mine for a couple of weeks then bought a Roland CX500

Think it’s servo, will check later.
I’m hoping to build up some collateral then move on to Roland !
    I learned on a Camm-1 using x1

I’ve just had a big tidy and found my black & Grey ’08 "used-once" Foison C24 at the back of a shelf over the wardrobe in the back bedroom.
Windows 7 found the drivers through Windows Update without me needing to find the CD, Windows Vista managed the same after some fiddling in Control Panel and getting it to Update Drivers.
Sign Cut Pro trial version runs the cutter perfectly, I really must do something useful with it now I have it running again (hot)
