    Brian ,

I have done this in the past and used stuff called tiger seal and also stuff called sikaflex. Both are very good as long as the old surface is sound enough and keyed with a bit of sandpaper. alternatively it could be screwed on using coloured screw caps.

Tiger seal is great – but the green tins of evostik contact adhesive (‘cos I got high…) work well (kept locked away – you’ll have to ask). Also evostik ‘serious stuff’ is pretty close to tiger seal in performance…without the solvent abuse. And it’s white (I think tiger seal is black IIRC?) Both take a while to ‘go off’, and are totally permanent.
