  • Flood coating flame edged acrylic tips?

    Hi all.

I have some large digital prints I need to mount the the reverse of some acrylic (5mm) that has flame polished edges.

Due to the fact that time is very tight, as is the budget, I can’t afford to cock it up, so was planning on fitting wet.

I see no obvious problems here, but have a nagging thing in the back of my mind about someone on here having problems with the acrylic cracking when applying wet?

Does anyone recall that, & if so, was it down to the use of application fluid or something else?

    Any feedback appreciated.

    Cheers,

    G.

I know cleaning with meths Can be a problem causing cracking or crazing haven’t heard of an issue with app fluid though – someone will know for sure

Agreed. Meths or any solvent can cause ‘crazing’ when it comes in contact with flame polished edges.

Dunno if your application fluid has solvents in it – could always play it extra safe and just use soapy water.

Cheers chaps. I just use plain old water with a drop of Lidl’s finest washing up liquid in as app fluid anyway.

I will keep the meths locked away in the drinks cabinet when I do this job then 😉
