Hi I hope someone has hed this before, we have wrapped a lot of vehicles and never really had any issue but we did a lwb sprinter for a big print company the other day, both sides in one day as they wouldn’t keep the van in for 2 days, now usually we have a next day to see any issue but we didn’t and the company is an hours drive away, we did everything as taught on 2 wrapping courses, the material was avery, everything was great when we left but now one bit of the recess has popped about 2" and they don’t want a patch, this was all post heated to 90 degress etc, my question is has anyone fixed an issue like this without patching & how is the best way to go about it?

    thanks
    John

Can’t help with a fix without replacing the panel but I would of used 3m 380 which is designed for deep recesses and does not have air release channels which allows more contact area for the adhesive in these places also the fitting method is different to normal wrapping so not to stress the vinyl on the recess’s

If its avery supreme I thought the cooking on temp was supposed to be 100 degrees C?
We found that its very sensitive to application temperature, in the winter it’s difficult to keep a constant warm temperature. We had a vehicle fail that was finished in our unit for 2 days all cooked on correctly but wasn’t very warm when we fitted it. The next time we did a vehicle with avery it was around 20 degrees and the material felt very different to use.

Could it be that the metal of the vehicle didn’t have long enough to get warm prior to application with the client wanting it back so quick?

If they pressured you in to it then I think I’d have said to them it can be done quick but it invalidates the warranty, usually the customer comes round then.

    Regards

    Alex

Sorry forgot to say I’ve tried to heat in a popped out area with avery supreme but it came back a few days later. The only way is to replace the panel. Then you’ll at least have the piece of mind and the customer should be chuffed!

Sorry forgot to say it wasn’t easy apply or air release and it was a grey back vinyl, I don’t know the avery range as we don’t have suppliers over here in Northern Ireland, it was through the print company and we were told it was to be 3M
