I am fitting 3 dibond panels to a container. The panels are 1200 x 600mm.
Now with it being a container I doubt there will be a cats chance in hell of drilling into it to screw or rivet them on.
Would these hold with high grab silicone adhesive?

I would go with VHB tape along top and bottom edge to hold it in place and some high bond squirty stuff in the center. Key the rear of the dibond where the squirty stuff will go.

If the panels are to be butted up to each other I would put some VHB across under the area where the panels butt.

Others can prob say what squirty stuff is best.

Hope that helps a bit Marcie.

Tim it’s not a flat surface, like the deep corrugated kinda stuff ……… but the stuff I was thinking of is Tradeseal MS-HG which is a high grab silicone adhesive.

    quote Marcella:

Why not? Is the customer forbidding it?

If not I’d definitely pop rivet because containers can take some abuse.

thanks John, I didn’t think we’d be able to drill it, thought it might have been too tough to drill.

I’d go for rivets / self tappers and/or EvoStik ‘Serious Stuff’.

Have a couple of sharp drill bits to spare and when drilling don`t let the drill bit vibrate( Keep pressure on it ). This will give you more life of the bit.

Invest in a rivet gun like this http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro … 5&id=10461

Will make it so much easier for you.

Sorry if I`m teaching you how to suck eggs!!

    Cheers

if you use a sharp HSS drill bit with some 3 in 1 oil to lubricate the tip, and a slow drill speed you should get through the steel without too many problems 🙂

or you could use self drilling screws.

    Nick.
