Hi all, it’s more like just flint actually!

I’ve got to fit a 7500mm x 470mm panatrim frame + panel or sign pan onto an uneven brick and flint wall and am just wondering what is the best way to go about fitting it?

I’ve installed plenty of both panatrim and signpan but never onto a surface like this.

    Thoughts and advice most welcome

    Cheers

Take something to use as packing behind any fixings that are sitting on a deep recess and some extra long screws. Washers work well. Then it’s a case of eyeballing along the sign frame to ensure it is sitting as straight as possible.

Flint? Hope you’ve got a decent drill. I should think it’s very hard, but a decent sds should go through it.

flint is extremely hard, so I would think you may need diamond tipped drills rather than your standard sds
I have never drilled it, but I would do a bit of research before you turn up on site, or at least do a test drill.

I know a lot of buildings in east anglia that are built using flint, and have mortar between the flint, so maybe not a problem.

    Thanks Guys,

I’ve got some decent drill bits and there’s quite large gaps of mortar in between the flint so should be okay. I thought about putting up a frame, packed out to make it straight and then fitting the signpan / panatrim to that but might just fit straight to the wall 🙂 washers as packers sounds like a plan.

    Cheers
