In the coming months we wil be printing banners of a sort, and would like to ask any of you guys and galls what you reackon the best method for finishing them off is? i.e. turning over the edges and eyeleting??
Any pointers would be appreciated… I have heard of a all weather double sided tape? and a welder of somesort!?
– wot to do – where to get it?? ha !! 😮
Look forward to hearing your views…?

Boldscan do a trade finishing service, might not be worth it by the time carriage is taken into consideration though.

I’m in the same boat as you, l’ve bought a Versacamm and banners are going to be an important part of my business this summer.
I’ve looked into welding machines but l’d have to invest another£1500 in one of those.
Grafityp do a banner clip that clamps onto the banner and then you can screw the clip to the wall. The clips are not too big and are easy to fit, once the clamp is pulled tight with the banner you struggle to pull the banner out.
With this method you don’t need hems and eyelets but l suspect that it compromises the strength of the banner to a certain extent. Mind you l’ve had one fixed outside my unit for a month or so and it is fine.
If you come across another option then post it here and l’ll check it out. -
I tried the banner on a roll stuff.
some of my customers pulled their noises up at it. They were used to having an hem all around.

We use a Leister hot air welder from B&P Graphics or Welwyn Tool Supplies, it’s not perfect but with a bit of practice (!) gives a good hem that can be eyeletted. Foot operated eyeletter from DTP supplies, can’t remember their details (post-pub!) PM me if your interested and I’ll email them to you

I have the same kit and just done 15 banners in a day. Its worth the investment if you have the quantity of banners and want to have total control of the process.

I gather the b & p machine is about £1700.
Anyone with any experience of the cheaper manual machine?

so,ething we too are looking at, i have the prices/leaflets on the welder you guys are talking about. its at work, ill look it out. only got it a few weeks ago, so should be easy to find 😕
we have had a hand held eyelet gun for some years. its very cheap and all
you need to buy is the brass male & female eyelets.just out of curiousity, has anyone tried the stitching version of the machine? dont see any of our guys in the dress making side of our game 😮 but thought i would ask. 😆

hi chris, we bought it a good while back for putting extra eyelets in banners we bought in. ill take a picture tommorrow of it & post it with some details.
i know there is also a hammer and punch type set-up for creating eyelets. again its very simple and cheap to buy it. -
hi guys. sorry for the delay.. ok looked out my old hand held eyelet gun.
see image below:-we only bought it to add extra eyelets to banners we bought in and it was so long ago i cannot find out who i bought it from.
the name on the gun is (tucker eyelet) but i dont think this is th supplier. more the manufacturer. did a quick google search and did find news and stuff on the tucker company but no source.. like i said it was a quick search. maybe you will have better luck. im sure by now the gun will be better and probably a big range of them too. they are based in birmingham!
did another very quick search and found this source for the same thing differnt models etc. worldwide service too..
