    Anyone else experience this issue?

Just upgraded the computers to Windows 10, Adobe CC,and cutting master 4.

Connecting to our FC8600 over Ethernet.

It works, and cuts, the only thing that doesn’t work is the poll size… a bit of a inconvenience, as we use the origin function on the plotter quite frequently, so not polling the media with isn’t much help.

I’ve drawn a blank checking settings etc.

in days gone by polling only worked on serial then usb not parallel or network, but if its got its own built in network card i would expect it to work. as you say handy to know how much room is left on the width, with out guessing.

a lot of people going back to cm3 may be try that

It has built in Ethernet, all machines are wired connections no Wi-Fi. Can’t see anything in the manual saying it won’t work over the LAN.

Hi David, this is a complete guess but just check that your firewall or anti virus software is not blocking incoming data from the machines IP address. Had issues like this with machines in the past but not cutters. Hope this works worth a try.

Best way to test my above suggestion is to trim off the firewall and antivirus virus for a couple of minutes while you test the functions.

Never gave the firewall a thought. We’ve switched from Mac OSX to windows, so there will be some bit’s I’m not sure about.

I did find the attached PDF, which says when setting up the plotter select TCP/IP rather than the driver that is installed… I’m sure I used the plotter driver, will experiment tomorrow.

Have you checked the HP/GL settings in the Graphtec menu ?

Yes switched it from Auto to GL same outcome.

Will try TCP IP thing tomorrow

Done as the document from Graphtec said.

Added the plotter in CM4, using the IP/TCP option, rather than selecting the driver that is installed, and we’re able to poll size.

We’re all up and running on Windows :awkward: Let’s see how that goes.

    Ahhhh found another little gripe.

Whilst Poll Size works, when cutting using CM4, you can’t then use Illustrator whilst it’s cutting.

I’m stuck sat here with CM4 on top of the screen, unable to do anything else in illustrator whilst it cuts :bangshead:

    User error!

Once you’ve clicked send, you can click done, and voila! you’re back using Illustrator whilst the plotter plots.

We’re now up and running, with the exception of a few fonts that aren’t compatible with Windows from Mac.
