  • FC-8000 USB Networking?

I have a FC-8000, however it is only USB, and I am getting frustrated that I cannot move the plotter away from my Mac, as I am limited by the length of the USB.

I have seen USB Print servers online, and I am curious as to whether it is possible to connect the plotter to one, and have it networked?

    Has anyone tried this?

Never tried it but don’t think it will work. Print servers are usually on the network. Pretty sure cutting master etc needs the cutter to be plugged directly into the computer. Don’t think you can specify an IP address etc.

Get a longer cable. You can buy usb extension cables.

    USB’s are limited to 5m.

in Cutting master you can specify an IP. You can buy the Plotter with network ethernet, however, this one doesn’t have it. Just a pain in the ass.

Sorry what I meant to say you is can’t specify the IP address and the port on the usb print server.

The ones I’ve used usually have like 3 ports you can plug printers on and then you need to specify which port the printer is on when adding it to the computer.

You’d need a network device is it exists that lets you plug in a usb device and it obtains an ip address off your network.
