Posted by Steven Griffiths on 6 September 2003 at 10:31Good Morning all,
Can I ask, do a lot of Sign-makers like to farm out Gerber edge work?

I think Steven is posting about this as he’s looking to invest in a gerber.
Both Kev and Mark already have a gerber and offer a trade service to members of the board.
I hope i’ll go some way to answering your question Steven – I do not actively promote digital printing or gerber stuff in general within my business, however if i get an enquiry from an existing customer or a new enquiry that i think will be worth my while then i will get quotes and farm the work out (usually to a member of the boards). So while i wont turn it away i’m not actively promoting it.
But as always the easier it is to sell things the more likely it would be to do it. What i mean by this is if your given the tools to sell a product it makes it a lot easier to sell. For example I print t-shirts as part of my business, my supplier has given me some sample garments to display and show my customers, now surprisingly enough those garments i have samples of sell the best. In the same respect if i came to you and said hey why don’t you offer your customers t-shirts, i’ll supply you with free samples a trade price list, a guide price list of what you should be selling the t-shirts to your customer at. It would make it alot easier for you to sell them to your customers.
In the same respect, if i had samples of prints, applications, guide price list etc.. i would find it alot easier to promote gerber edge or any other digital printing.
I hope this helps in some way
