• Fancy Dress

Ok guys and girls i need your help.

I have a fancy dress party to go to at the weekend (20th) and i have no idea what to wear.

I had thought about something from starwars (just wanted to play with the lightsabre but the costumes don’t come with one, and they are expensive to buy)

Would be nice to make a costume instead of hiring one, so anyone got any ideas??

And before you say it no mentions of going as a sign maker!!!!

You’d make a cool Princess Liah (if you like that sort of thing) 😀

I was going to suggest a vinyl face-wrap in the style of Darth Maul, but my wife seems to think you may have a problem breathing 😮

    Cheers, Dewi

Costume would be cheap tho, old bikini painted gold, cover it in a bit of wire here and there, bit of a collar with chain attached and all you’d be short of is Jabba the Hut! 😉 It may be a tad cold tho, so it may be worth considering the whole white gown thing Liah has going on in the original Star Wars, you’d get away we a cheapo plastic water pistol with a washing up liquid bottle strapped on and covered in vinyl. It’d save the whole lightsaber saga 🙂

Any job offers for working in a props department, I’m open to offers as long as its more than £75 a week and doesn’t involve Manchester taxis. 😛

    Lorraine,
I went to a fancy dress party only last week. I went as ‘Howard’ from the Halifax advert. Great Night and a Great Laugh. 😀 😳

Hope you have a good one!.

Why not go as Princess Leah, no need to worry about a light saber then?

    Cheers Danny

😆 Didn’t Abba wear something like that on stage? 😉

Btw Steve, whilst you know your Star Wars, what was that bounty hunters name? You know, the one with the jetpack and the Mars bar in his back pocket.

Lorraine, You could always go wearing just a pair of black gloves, black shoes and nothing else 😕

When people ask what you have come dressed as, you raise your hands in the air and say:- “I’m the five of spades” 😳

    (Steve)
And wasn’t it a brilliant film?
Turned out to be a right cracker
Classic tale of good(the force) beating bad(the darkside)

I think Luke shares a lot with Neo!!

Darryl, oh yes, I’ve been a big Star Wars fan from the original film back in 1977 right through to the new ‘prequels’.
Also my son (now 11 yrs old) is a big fan (mind you he hates it when I call him ‘My young Padawan’)
With ref to Neo, I take it you mean ‘The Matrix’, the original movie is fantastic…… Part 2 hmmmmm, I was hoping for better, still haven’t seen the final part, I’ve read some dissapointing reviews & I’m loathed to spend a small fortune in our local multiplex cinema, I will wait for the soopa doopa DVD to come out. At the moment I’m saving hard to be able to afford to see ‘Lord of the Rings’ part 3. 😀

Sorry Lorraine, back to the thread, what have you decided on fancy dress (?) And I hope you will post a photo of it mate. 😮

My sentiments regarding the Matrix exactly.
Not really into ‘Rings though .
Tell young ‘Padawan’ my daughters middle name is Leia, couldn’t persuade the wife to use it for a Christian name!!!!!’Leia’s birthday is coming up,so she was named Hollie ahhhh!.

Sorry guys carry on with the signboards!!!!!!

    Hi Lorraine!
We call them costume parties here.
I have seen some funny outfits, such as the pregnant nun, Michael Jackson with a strategically placed child, a priest with a strategically placed alter boy, and a Scotsman with a stategically placed sheep! 😮
I think you should dress up as Bettie Page, the 50s pin-up gal. Or some cool chick like Twiggy. Or Alice Cooper! He rocks!
Just my two cents! (I HATE Star Wars…sorry…my old boyfriend had 28 Star Wars tattoos! Blecch!)
    Have fun, girlfriend!
    Love- JILL

28 tatoos! 😮 Where did he fit them all? 😕 And why Star Wars? 🙄

Bette Page one sounds cool… be very party-like 🙂

    Hi Dewi…
A bad moment in my life due to temporary insanity from hosting the Mars meet 😳
He looked like a circus freak. As if he had a second skin with all this Star Wars crap and dragons, etc. One leg was Star Wars, the other dragons, lions on his back, panthers on his arms. Several piercings too. Dunno what I was thinking but since we’ve been apart he got an apartment just up the street and sometimes he jogs past my house!
Funny, when I was in Edinburgh at The Fringe this past August, there was a man in Braveheart regalia. For a donation, you could get a photo taken with him so I did. He asked where I was from and when I said the USA he went on about Star Wars & KISS. He pulled up his sleeve and he was covered with KISS tattoos! It totally ruined the William Wallace effect. To be sporting, I showed him my tattoo too. (on my tailbone) Then he lifted his kilt and showed ME his bottom!
    😳 (oogle) 😳
I still say Lorraine would make a kool Bettie Page…OR Bonnie from Bonnie & Clyde!
    Love- JILL
I have a pic of this man but cannot attach in this post

Sorry Lorraine, I didn’t mean to take over your posting with lots of Star Wars fans, you either LOVE it or absolutely HATE it 👿
But I am really fascinated with the fans naming their beloved children after their heros, great stuff 😆
2 others come to mind –
Robin Williams – daughter named after a Nintendo game – ‘Zelda’.

Lots of lager lovers name their daugthers……’Stella’ *drink* (true!)

Can I say if there’s any interest I will start another posting in the general discussion catergory……. something like ‘Star Wars fans’.

    A bit sad… a bit corny…. but hey it’s legal! & I love it!! 😳

Obiwan Kenobi watched Luke Skywalker having trouble eating his peas, he was trying to scoop them up onto his knife, Obiwan bent forward & whispered into Lukes ear ‘…….Luke, use the fork’

A boxing mate of mine called his son Lennox Lewis, had the TV and papers round his house quick as a shot. His last child, another boy, and his wife insisted it should have a normal name, so he called him Marco Antonio. ….for 2 weeks until she realised it was another boxers name! Now the boy is called Gary or something like that, yet dad calls him Rocky! (hot)

    Hi Lorraine
How you gonna be Fred & Wilma?
If you want to be warm on the night you could go as tubacca (sorry fans if I spelt that wrong)
But Bonnie sounds cool you could wear one of those tassle dresses made with lots of string.
Good luck – have fun and post a pic…

Now it’s Cleopatra and Ceasar, just hope the cosutmes arrive in time otherwise it’s going to be Adam & Eve 😳

Have a great time whatever you go as
