fabricated signage: coleg llandrillo
Posted by coolinshot on 14 June 2004 at 13:19Just thought I’d post a job we completed a few weeks back. The letters are individually cut dibond. The logo at the top is printed from a “jetsolver”, mounted onto white dibond and jigsawed out. Fitted with the aid of a cherry picker.

Looks pretty cool – What material is the monolith and how did you fix the letters?

Looks really good. nice and clean design!! It’s certainly a sign and a half!
😀Would be interested in knowing how the fitting went, how many guys/girls it took.

Hi Stephen / Carrie
Myself and one other fitter working from a cherry picker – the whole job took less than 5 hours to fit. That includes struggling with paper templates on a pretty windy day but other wise it was quite trouble free. The logo was awkward as it got windier the higher up you went and the panel itself isn’t small. I like the end result anyway – it’s going into my portfolio along with the “beware of the dog” signs I usually make.
Thanks for all your comments.

great work as always mate.. cant have been easy, but you did very well.
looks pretty high.. what hight is it approx?is the jetsolver a spandex solvent printer or is that jetster? 🙄

Thanks Rob:
It’s about 15 metres total height – not too scary but it was quite windy so the cherry picker was dancing around a lot and the templates had to be stuck down very quickly.
The Jetsolver is basically a converted Roland Hi-Fi jet – bought from AIT. We’ve been using it for over 3 years now and after a shaky start, getting used to all the maintenance it seemed to require, it’s been a fantastic purchase. The print quality is very good at 720 dpi and the colours are vivid. The only drawback is the print speed which is about 2 running metres per hour @ 720. The inks are Solvent based using refillable cartridges.
