    Hi All,

    need some advise please,

due to an substantial increase in 8×4 diabond sheet orders that need to have digital print applied, i have been looking into a mounter/laminator to make life easier, i have come across easymount but i cant afford one at the moment, now i have come across a EzY TAPER 1530 DELUXE model.

I have been offered a brand new one for £1000 inc Del.

is this worth it or not?

we will be mainly mounting graphics to alu board and laminating.

    any help much appreciated.

Great machine , worth 1K all day long, the shipping for this into the uk would cost about £400.00 on it’s own, sound like a bargain

So am I right in thinking it will sort out all my mounting/laminating issues? Also it comes with a standard stand.

the rollers will cope with di bond no problem, takes a little getting used to but a great investment.

Can 3×2 correx boards be mounted on this? Also will I have any restrictions using the standard stand over the higher end stands?

I have done correx and it’s not a problem, don’t get your second question, if the stand supplied with the machine does the job can’t see the issue, ask the seller what they reckon

The normal stand just holds the ezy taper just as a plotter stand holds the plotter, I.e does not have a roll holder etc, should this make a difference in the ezy tapers use? Apart from being less convenient to use?

will that make any difference if you are putting through di bond sheets ?, you could fabricate something up to duplicate the missing bit, I don’t think it woud cause to many head aches

We have one of those rusting away in the corner. Biggest doorstop I have ever come across. Total rubbish. Sorry to say you will need a lot of practice.

I have one of these which is invaluable.
Yes, settings and adjustment make a lot of difference but if your rollers have equal pressure right across and your feed is dead square it does a great job.
Cost around £2,200 about 5 years ago.
    UK support is NIL though.

    Agree fully with Peter.

Technique take time to hone too.

Also, with 8 x 4s you will probably find it better to have a bench either side of it to support the board.

Make sure you have some spare prints to start with till you get used to it.

    Good Luck

    Gary

I saw these on eBay last night, tempted…

Is it good for applying application tape you think? to 48" Vinyl.

Sounds silly but I mean is it easy/ good application or more hassle than its worth.

When these were first imported from Australia they had smooth rubber rollers like a proper laminator. When we bought one they had changed to a different roller material and these had a rough surface which left bubbles in everything. Ours was kept in the basement, it is slightly damp as any basement is. Because of this the metalwork went rusty and the rollers were covered in mould and cracked. The Australian company agreed to change the rollers but said I would have to pay the shipping which was about £800
plus vat. Which I refused and now the thing sits in the corner and is used as a shelf. I don’t think the original rollers suffered with this problem as a friend has one and his are ok even now. So in my opinion they are rubbish and it is better to spend the money on a proper cheap Chinese laminator.
As has been said there is now no official UK support or back up for come backs.

same here, i had a look on ebay last night and they were just listed, i have bought one and expect delivery on monday, at under a £1000 i think i have a bargain especially since people have paid over £2500 for one in the past.

i already have a cheap chinese laminator but the electrics do not work so i have to turn by hand plus i can not adjust the rollers as they are jammed(what do you expect from a chinese import), im going to keep this for laminating only and the ezy taper for mounting.

i have a job on for 800 correx boards 3×2 so hopefully life will be easier.

all i got to do now it watch the demos and practice plenty till im confident.

Our one does have the slightly rough finish rollers and is therefore no good for laminating as it leaves silvering. We do use it all the time for applying application tape over weeded graphics (even 1220 wide) but NOT for applying cut vinyl graphics to a panel.
It’s great for mounting laminated prints on to panels or for flood coating 8 x 4’s.
For this it needs the accessory roller set which sits under the bottom roller, otherwise the centre area can pick up some bubbles.
It can’t be understated how important the setup is to successful use.
Correct and equal Roller tension will give a true run through, then any substrate and graphic must be entered dead square. Run through from front to back first to see if it moves sideways across the rollers.
Don’t try and set this up on your own; it weighs more than you think.
At £1000 I would buy one all day long. At £3500 plus with no UK backup not a chance in hell. When you take in to account the shipping cost from Australia due to weight these look a steal.
I can see why Martin got hurt as the early ones had a few problems plus the UK support was not actually UK based.
