I posted this as a follow up to another post

    http://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=25797

The first time I have used etched glass and to be honest I wish I’d used the whiter film rather than the silver; also there are a few stress marks in the film you cant make out on this low re pic where I have been battling in the wind and the film was twisting. Lol.

The customer is happy enough though.

Ive still to do his van and a few signs.

Glad you got it done James! At least there’s a roller shutter to cover the window…………. less chance of it being vandalised. 😀

James, in future make sure you engage brain before operating plotter !!

That way you can do jobs like this in the nice dry, warm shop rather than outside battling the elements :lol1:

    :lol1: To true Martin.

My head was working out my holidays while my hands were on the machinery

Plus it would have been alot easier to line up the colours with the light outside behind the graphic………….. :lol1:

good to see you starting to post your work James, thanks for that mate.

fitting etch outside can be a nightmare. i did it once and that was enough for me. like you i don’t like the Finnish of the silver stuff, much better with regular etch finish. i am guessing because you fitted it outside the metallic effect was worse though as it tends to be looking at it "vinyl side."
etch is a nightmare in the gold, gets very brittle, can snap and like you say stress marks appear. obviously i haven’t seen the stress marks but (cant promise) but stress marks tend to vanish when exposed to the sun for long periods of time. "fat chance in Scotland i know" but it might! 😉 😀

thanks for taking the time to post your work.
