is the blue & orange under the etch or did you cut round? (just me being nosey) 😀 how long did it take you to do? 😛

    nice work!! 😀 😀

hi nik, thanx for the comments.

the blue and orange are vinyl applied to the cut out area of the frosting.

we started by just applying the frosting with the details cut out, then the customer decided that it wasn’t colourful enough and then we added the colours with vinyl into the spaces, easy peasy!!

it took about 2 hours to apply the three windows and the door, but it took best part of a week to dry out to get the app tape off, pain in the butt.

looks good though, has won us some business through doing it.

    cheers

that’s the best part when you’ve done a good job, then get recommended !! 😛 why don’t you try it dry next time..beats waiting a week? 😛

Good stuff matey. Did you cut the small border around the shaped windows by hand afterwards?

Also, do it dry next time. Go on, you can do it! It makes things so much easier. That whole job will take you an hour next time.

tried it before, on a test window and it is not possible to remove the bubbles, they just get stuck and you have not got the ability to shift it around dry

worth the wait, i just tell the customer it needs time to dry, usually leads to us doing something else for them on my return a week later

big g, the shaped bit on the top of the door window was done by photo; first, when we were designing it with the customer i took a snap from the inside of the door, then imported it into corel 11 and drew a shape the same as the top of the window, then when it was applied i trimmed the sides and bottom.

Am I right in saying you also do window tinting, if yes, could you not apply some heat to the glass after application, as you would on automotive glass if a finger appears, you know what I mean, apply the heat to the glass on the opposite side from the film/vinyl ?

hiya bob, no i haven’t tried applying heat, dodgy on domestic flat glass, “fingers” only appear when the film is heated and expands to be shaped, not necessary on flat glass.

I take it that you have some knowledge of window tinting? mentioning fingers i mean?

    cheers
