    Hi all,

My SP300v is not reading the correct width of any media i load up. Either I get "0mm" or an actual error that the sheet is not loaded properly.

Ive cleaned the plastic strip several times but no avail and now Ive noticed that when the cutter moves to the left pinch roller position and comes back, it stops as if there’s another pinch roller and then tells me there’s an error with the left position roller when it’s clearly within its proper position.

Is this either the plastic strip or could the ribbon be on its way. Over the last month or so ive noticed the ribbon making clicking noises as the unit moves back and forth.

Any help is appreciated before I call the engineer! 😥

    Cheers
    Dave.

Ok Ive narrowed it down to the left pinch roller i think. When I move that roller to any of the other positions I get a proper read out of the width. But when I put it to the furthest left position it returns a "0mm" reading every time.

Is there anything along that pinch roller part that i can clean?

    cheers
    Dave.

The problem turned out to be the connection of the ribbon cable to the small board its attached to. The engineer simply disconnected it, moved the ribbon about a bit, gave the area a clean then put it all back together! Simple really.

Astonishingly he was about to goto another printers with exactly the same problem that day. Has anyone else had this problem before, or similar? I couldnt see anything close to this on any other printing forums at all.

Also, the clicking noise has gone that the ribbon used to make, so im guessing that there was some alignment problem with the whole unit/ribbon.

Maybe one to look out for in future guys.

Im just glad its sorted and didnt cost me anything to fix (engineer did it for free)

    Cheers
    Dave.
