Guys if anyone has this machine could you give me some advice.

I need to print a 3 layer sticker. So different image seen from front and back. With a white layer in the middle.

I’m setting the file up in illustrator.

Can someone tell me step by step how you would setup the artwork.

Then on Onyx rip I’m choosing 48pass 3layer 2way profile. But the final print is only printing a white layer at bottom then 1 image on top.

    Thanks for reading.

    Wayne

I also had a nightmare trying to do this! I tried so many ways round it with changes to artwork and settings in onyx, unfortunately I never got the end result and gave up! Be interested to hear anybody else’s experience!

It’s a shame Luke. Spent hours doing many different layouts and still couldn’t get it. I guess I may have to farm the job out and take a hit as I already said to the customer I could be done.. Damn it 🙁

Not sure you can do it on your printer we have done this many time but add a shading layer of 20% black between the two white layers so we would print cmyk-white-20% black-white-cmyk you need uv cured inks to get the results your looking for. If we can help give us a shout

lee seams to have the answer.
you can do it by print on clear in reverse with reg marks, remove and laminate with white expose reg marks, then print correct way round the other side. realignment is the issue but depends on your rip and ability to put the material back in the right place.. i have solvent white capability but its just not opaque enough for that job plus the material will not handle that amount of solvent ink.

I too have the S80600 but the image must be equal and not mirrored. You couldn’t for example have text readable from both sides, one side will be reversed.

It’s a limitation on the eco solvent as I have a supplier who can print colour / white / black / white / reversed colour on UV inks and it looks great.

We print it in one pass so no registration issues but its a very slow process when printing 5 layers in one pass. The UV cured white is very opaque so the end result is very good.

Neil doing as i suggested will give you the same end result as Lee’s fine example.
