We picked up a hardly used Epson 9700 last year, and it’s been a great little workhorse for printing posters.

Although last job we tried to print the cyan head was barely printing.

Normal Cleans, Power Cleans, don’t do anything, infact fail before they complete.

I’ve removed the cartridge and it feels empty, yet it shows there’s still something remaining on the machine.

I’ve cleaned the head, the capping station etc, still getting teh same identical result.

I’ve ordered a new cartridge to see if we can get some ink through, but I’m guessing the heads knackered.

Although I’m not sure if the Cyan/Magenta share a head, so would have expected the M to be down too?

    What are your thoughts?

This is probably an electrical fault in the head. I had something similar a few years ago.

One thing that may be worth trying is to turn the machine off over the weekend and give it a good power clean on Monday morning. This sometimes breaks down dried ink if there is any. Remember these aren’t solvent machines and it should do any damage been left off for a few days.

We’ve had an Epson before. What we got told by engineer is that if the nozzles jump around a bit after cleans and it’s not the same ones then it’s a capping station. If it’s the same ones over and over again then it’s a head. Pretty much similar experience on the Mutoh too before we got the S80600.

Happy to recommend a company we have used previously…
