    good morning all.

I’m hoping someone can help us with a problem that we seem to be coming across more and more.

Upon our request a lot of our clients send us there logos in .EPS format.
For some reason we are finding more often that we are unable to open these files, which is becoming not only frustrating for us but for our clients especially when they have difficulty getting an EPS in the first place.

We run Omega v2.0 and FlexiSign Pro, but don’t seem be able to open anything newer than a v7.0 EPS file.

Are there any programs available that will allow us to open pretty much any EPS file so that we can convert it ourselves to use in either Omega or FlexiSign ?

    Cheers.

well our reason for upgrading our software every two years is for that reason, the functionality comes second.

We use CorelX3 and we just upgraded to Omega for our cutters/routers, but CorelX3 is importing the latest EPS formats and then you can copy and paste to Omega.

Upgraded to X3 myself last week. Still have some eps files that will not open, but I have less problems than I did with v12.

thanks for the tip. Interestingly, the files that refuse to load with a *format error* will load straight into my RIP.

Frustrating as hell some days tho, specially if you need to make a change and the client is looking over your shoulder 👿

    Thanks again

for what it’s worth, i’ve always used corel and illustrator for sorting eps files, subsequently, we very rarely have any problems

Yes, I use Illustrator to open eps files, then resave as ai (legacy version 8) and bingo! It will open in signlab, corel or whatever without any problems.

EPS format can be quite heavy, what your application is doing is converting the EPS data to lines/fills/bitmaps/objects within corel draw, if it comes across something very difficult to convert it will fail. However a rip just render the EPS into an image and will print as designed.

EPS can be abit troublesome but try these methods.
If you have Jaws or full Acrobat try converting to PDF and import that.
    or
Import eps as placed rather than interpreted, print to postscript printer set to file with ps extension. – Import that as postscript interpreted.
    or
Download Ghostscript and Ghostview, chances are it will open in that, resave as eps/ps/pdf and try to import i of those.
Sounds a bit of a pain, but when tou want that file you’ll try anything.

Sorry Ady, don’t understand your problem with Flexi, we never have any problem with importing .eps .ai .pdf .jpegs etc.
Have you tried re installing Flexi? That might cure your problem.
