Morning everyone ……. right i’ve got a basic problem with Engravelab
which i’m sure someone will know the answer too.

I’ve got to engrave a few brass plates with a basic single-line engraver
font and outline ……. problem I have is I don’t seem to be able to send
the job to the engraver without it coming out ‘filled in’.

When I go to "cut" then "create tool path" I get the following options :

    – Online
    – Male
    – Female
    – Fill

….. what one do I choose ?? ( I normally choose ‘Fill’ for normal engraving)

Then I go "cut" – "plot" ….. is there anything that should or shouldn’t be highlighted ??

As mentioned when I send this job to engrave it wants to engrave the
whole block rather than just the outlines ……..

Hope that makes sense ….. any help appreciated. 😀

Hi Neil …. exactly what i thought ….

what about the next step ?? when I send as normal it still wants to engrave
the whole block and not just the lines. 😕

Are u sure that the lines are separate, how big is the text ?

Hi Neil ….. the text was only about 4mm tall.

I did some ‘jiggery pokery’ and managed to get it to work.
Not sure if i did it right but it seems to work. I’ll see how i get on today.

    Cheers for your help. 😀

you don’t need to create a fill to SINGLE line fonts, just select it & go to plot menu (not the scissor symbol on the tool bar) there you will see a tick next to engrave un-tick then re-tick again, and a second window will pop up there you can either select to: cut fill / cut outline / or cut both

you normally cut fill when working with true type etc leaving the cut outline un-ticked so you don’t add unreq’d thickness to the lettering

just remember to use the plot command from the top menu not the scissor from the toolbar as this doesn.t bring up the options

    Have fun
