Encad 850 MediaPosted by Steve Holden on 21 June 2007 at 22:52Hello everybody, does anybody on here still run one of those antique,
pre-solvent, Encad 850s? I’ve got one and it’s still does me proud.
My problem is, when it comes to media for it I’m always getting the response, "What, not solvent, we don’t do much for that anymore". Amongst other things, I’m trying to find a clear adhesive vinyl for it, can anybody help? 😕
Thanks in advanceSteve Steve Holden replied 18 years, 4 months ago 5 Members · 8 Replies

Steve, welcome to the boards. You will probably get more answers to your posts if you pop into the hello forum and introduce yourself. As for media I used to use Europoint display for most of my media. Not sure if they still do it as that was a couple of years ago now. I have also noticed that Grafityp have some inkjet media listed in their brochures but not sure if this includes a clear. Colorgen are the official UK distributors for Encad but I have always found them a bit expensive for just about everything.

Thank you Martin, I will check out your suggestions after saying hello in the hello forum 😉

Hi Steve, I run one or did until I replace a cartridge, since then it has sat unused. Tried Colourgen to get it serviced but they don’t seem interested, I even offered to take it to one of their engineers down south but they never came back to me. So if you have any suggestions has how to get it back in use, I would appreciate them. Cheers Dave I use to get my media from Neschen

Thanks Dave, I’m sorry to here about your printer problems. I’m no expert but if you can elaborate a bit more about the problem I will certainly try to help and if I can’t help I’m sure that someone on here will be able to.
 Thanks again
 Steve

Thank you Chris, I have just checked out grafityp and as usual they now do very little for non solvent printers. I will try Allpint but I’m not holding my breath.
 Thanks again for your troubleSteve

I have used a company called photopaperdirect in the past for pigment media. On there website is a product called clear film self-adhesive, which it says is fine for dye or pigment ink. Robert Ferguson
