Today I had to order some Max inks, I have had the update CD’s and have today run out of a colour, so I am upgrading. My question is this……..

Has anyone else updated to the new inks, and was it easy. I havn’t read through the instructions fully yet.

    Question 2.
I have now got carts that are basicly being wasted as all the carts must be upgraded at the same time. Would it be worth someone buying these part used carts from me so that someone else could benefit from using the rest of their inks up more economically, or am I talking through my 😮

    I have…..
    Black with 99cc
    Magenta with 184cc
    and a yellow with 27cc

I would sell at a good price if anyone is interested!

hi mike, we recently changed and we simply removed old carts, stuck new ones in, loaded software machine did a clean cycle and off you go.

If you have any full, unopened carts roland will exchange them for max.

    cheers

We just put in Max carts as the old ones ran out and used a combination till all ours are now max, worked just fine and its what our dealer recommended.

I posted this 4 MONTHS ago. And it seems that people just don’t read the posts properly.

I upgraded to the max inks then and wanted to get rid off the old carts if someone could use them before they upgraded to the max inks.

Rod my supplier (Roland DG UK) said I had to change all the inks at the same time (hence question No.2) and update the software to take the inks. How could you do that by changing as you run out (?) (?) (?) (?) (?)

Mike , it was real simple , we just plugged in a max cart as an eco-sol ran out , the firmware is not vital at all , and in fact I have a suspicion that the firmware upgrade recognises the chip on the cart (which the old doesnt and thus one cant use aftermarket without a chip) and perhaps increases idle clean cycles to take into account the lower flashing off of the max solvents
We are using all our old profiles and just increasing ink limits where the materials can take more. I hate loading new profiles as this plays havoc with repeat jobs and colour.
We have a 12 cart machine , so dumping of 12 carts partially used is a pretty damn expensive affair . We have had no trouble at all with no increased maintenance , in fact we closed for a month and merely switched of the printer with no other prep, came back , did a mild head clean and proceeded as ususal.

That’s exactly what i said when i got told but Roland wasn’t sure about it and they did some testing i will change over slowly and will take my chance with that. nancy

I Changed ink sets a couple of weeks ago, the new inks are very good.

Had a lot of work on and ran out of yellow…I put the old half full yellow eco-sol cart back in to finish the job and replaced it when i got a new cart the next day.
Seems to be ok, i couldnt even see the difference on the print either.
By the way I recommend Spire Digital solutions for buying ink etc.
They will also come and do the upgrade for free if you so wish, If you need their number let me me know

Thanks for that idea Mark. Now I can use up the carts I have removed if I run out during a job. 😀
