Could someone please explain the difference between the DX5 and DX7 printhead, does one print faster than the other?

Profile and ink wise are they similar? I see inks which claim to be compatible with both heads, is this true?

    Thank you for your help.

Hi Steff. Physically the heads are different to look at as the DX5 has one row of 8 single sided compression dampers and the DX7 has 4 rows of double sided compression dampers. In terms of the actual nozzle base, I doubt there is very much difference as it still prints 8 individual channels. In terms of ink compatibility, I doubt there is much of a difference, but I would get something in writing from the ink supplier before committing to anything.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply Stafford, it is very much appreciated.

I have also since learned that the DX7 can produce a smaller droplet size than the DX5 and can also print at a slightly faster speed. Thank you to Justin at Colourificfor that information amongst much more detailed advice.
