Posted by Dennis Van Der Lingen on 5 January 2006 at 09:29hey all,
quick question here, we’re gonna do a wrap on a c2 we’ve got it al designed, vehicle is mesured, inspected and everything looks doable exept “THE DOOR HANDLES”
these have to be removed and i dont know how, anyone had done this?
saturday is the day and i would hate the job getting postponed because of bloody doorhandles.i’ll see if i can get a good pic of it on the net.
tnx

you should be able to take off the door trim and you’ll see the nuts holding it on from the inside. Some have fixings thru the side of the door too (not done a C2) so once you get the trim off, it should be pretty self explanitory.
Make a mental note tho of how the mechanics fit back onto the lock assembly.

is this handle not like the vw where there is a fitting in the door shut one torex bolt and the handle slides back towards door edge ???

tomorow i’ll go to the garage to ask, i think i have to be there anyway since i broke some things, really stupid but i broke everything:
took of the back logo: broke it
took of the front logo: broke it
took of the text citroën and c2: broke thembutt as they say at least its not raining
when i’m done i’ll post the pic of it, if i find time, really i’m so busy these days it’s know past midight and i’m still printing
o well it’s not that bad when you love your job ………and can send the bill :funky:

are you using the fishing line technique?
How’d you break them?
-
I second the fishing Line method of removing emblems… Nothing works better!

You’ve answered your own question Dennis. Go to your local dealer and ask them.
They can often help avoid breaking or bending something.
That’s what I do.

the fishing line is a great tip altough lots of new cars have the badges made in single piece text like f o c u s and its not worth messing around with rip it off and get new one
2 hours spent cleaning and replacing the double sided tape is more than a badge or two
richoh and most p e u g e o t

didn’t use the fishing line, just heat and a squeegy, normally this works really well and fast but not today,
the letters and logo’s are the least of my probs, that front bumper is giving me a headeach, i’ll take some pics tomorow and post it in the portfolio, really it’s pushing the limits here both of the vinyl and me,
anyway homer sleep now and see you all tomorow
regards

done the front, roof and back, the sides will be for tomorow (it’s my car so have time)
still figuring out how to remove them, i do have a clue butt still working on it, i did go past the garage and to my suprise i was first seen as a lunatic, then found to be a obnoccious obstacle standing in the way of other customers, then send away with blurry explanation,
anyway i’ll see what happens, and try to keep you posted
cheers

quote Bart Van Wassenhove:shane, what’s the fishing line technique 😮 😮 😮
Pull a piece of fishing line really tight, the thinner the better, and run it under the decal.
pull it thru in a jigsaw action, and it will cut thru the doublesided tape like a knife thru butter.
It does not damage the decal in almost all cases, and the removal is quick and painless.
cheers
