or is it just me? Be interested to here what you think of it.

I’ve been using it exclusively for a few years now & am well chuffed. I tried a roll of Metamark the other week & thought it was awful in comparison.

Who makes Jac vinyl? Well, more to the point, who sells Jac vinyl?

    Cheers, Dewi

I have used Jac vinyl from Vinyl Logistics and the only problem I found is that application tape doesn’t stick to the white vinyl. I know it’s not supposed to stick, but some adhesion would be nice. The tape just curls up at the edges and only sticks to the vinyl areas.

Other colours are fine, but this white stuff is really beginning to bug me, have even tried different application tapes, same result.
It must be the different backing paper used for white vinyl.

    Cheers

Dewi. Vinyl Logistics sell it, Avery own the company who make it.

Michael, that is strange. I have never experienced that myself & I’ve been experimenting with application tapes too. I’m using the serisign 8 year stuff, it has a blue backing paper (what a good idea!) & I’ve just been through about 10 rolls of the stuff doing a recent big fleet of vans.

Strange it’s just the white too.

Sorry but I’m a little confused, what has the backing paper on vinyl got to do with putting application tape onto vinyl…… they are opposite sides?

Not out to ridicule anyone but if I’m wrong (which is normally the case) please tell me different.

😳 Soz just re-read the thread, so you reckon the white vinyl’s backing paper has a stronger adhesion to the vinyl thus the tape cannot pull the vinyl away.

Yes ok not a signmaker probably never will be ……………I’ll shut up now.

    😳 😳 Nigel 😳 😳

sorry nigel you are half right when you have weeded what ever it is,
you are left with the up side (smooth) of the backing paper around your graphics you need the app tape to stick to this other wise it flaps around every where and sticks to what you don’t want it to,
does that make any sense?? I do seem to be going through a senseless period 😮

    Hi Lynn,

Yes you are right, some backing sheets are siliconised for “easy weeding” and whichever application tape is used may prove a problem for the application tape to get a good grip on the vinyl. (i was going to say some more here but wasn’t too sure if the invisible mods would have got me)

By the way isn’t that a big tiger print behind you, I seem to remember at sign uk that it was C.J’s birthday……………………….. 😀

I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that JAC has been withdrawn from sale here in OZ. Other OZ members may correct me on this, but when Avery bought the company out, it disappeared from sale. Was not very popular at all.
