Also i have order a pen tablet.

Do any of you use them??

I have ordered the Wacom Intuos 3 6 x 8. Someone has highly recommended them for design and says that once you have used it you will never go back to a mouse.

    Has anyone got any views??

They are quite expensive but looks like it could be worth it in the long run.

Was a bit concerned that it may not work as well for the type of work that we do as sign makers. Good for photo editing and illustrators.

    What do you think

I bought one years a go, still got it but it doesn’t get used very often. I only use it when working on photographs.

Daneread, I use one for photo editing only where after a bit of practice comes in to its own.
No good for vector sign work IMHO.

Peter, have to disagree with you about it being no good for vector sign work. Although I use mine mainly for photo editing and similar applications I also use it if I have an image that I need to trace to produce a vector.
OK I also use software for vectorising images but sometimes it is easier and there is less cleaning up to do if you just trace the image with a tablet and pen.

so not really good for the every day sign work??

thats a bit disappointing as i have already ordered it now and paid for it now.

At least it will be good for tracing.

Not really worth it then when you pay so much for it. Seems to be better for other designers

Yes Martin, good for that part of sign work.

Got one but rarely/never use it. I find the vector tool in Illustrator is just as easy to use for tracing and tends to produce smoother vectors will less anchorpoints.

Mostly use it in Photoshop for quickmasking and such.

I have an intuous, I use it a lot in photoshop and wouldnt be without. That said, a lot of the work I do is on photosgraphs and I wouldnt really have said it had much of a use in sign making apart from tracing etc with the pen tool.
