    Hi Guys

Customer has requested some parking signs for outside their unit, the landlord has requested to put the signs on to the tarmac directly. He does not know what it is but it is not paint apparently 😕

anybody ever seen these tarmac graphics?

    cheers

there are two common ways to sign tarmac.
One is the way road markings are done, with a a hot molten system.
the other is with a spray can, both essentially would need stencils.

People like viking office supplies supply the spay paint, as would your local builders merchant

Thanks Peter, now that you mention it I think he might be thinking of a stencil because he said it was a graphic that was laid down on to the tarmac. I’ll go back to him and then check the paint you suggested.

    Thanks

You can also get a ‘high build’ paint which will look like the molten stuff Peter has mentioned. Takes a bit of a knack to apply it but it is much better than the spray on stuff and lasts much longer. Can’t remember who makes it but I have several cans in the workshop and can tell you tomorrow Warren.

Thanks Harry, it might be a better option as it lasts longer.

The stuff you are looking for is a ‘thermoplastc’ – we have one here in NZ called PREMARK so someone in the UK will have something (usually roadmarking companies).

The shape or lettering is cut out of the plastic, placed and then a blow torch ‘melts’ it in place – lasts much longer than roadmarking paint and excellent for things like company logos etc in their parking spaces … precious little people!!
