Ive had an old sample of holographic vinyl for years, bought from a supplier that no longer exists.

I’ve now had a customer that wants said vinyl and i’m struggling to find anywhere that does it. Can anybody help? I’m sure it was called Galaxy or something and of course it is a holographic type vinyl (probably a cheaper brand). I need 3000mm x 1440mm if possible!

    Thanks

Back in the day it was called "Prismatic Foil / Vinyl"
The best source was the originators called "Coburn" in the USA, but have since been bought over and i am not sure the new brand name. we bought direct from them about 15 years ago…
it’s not a vinyl as such but a polyester film and has a short life exterior.

Where is it going? Most of these are polyester display films & have a short term exterior life, 6 months if I remember correctly, other thing is that as a polyester film they are not really conformable at all & only really suited to completely flat panels.
I have bought the 5 year version from Holographic Vinyl Corps on a few occasions as I had a couple of customers that wanted a holographic vinyl, the defracto silver is the only one I have used though.

A Hexis rep came in today and handed me a swatch card with something very similar on it. Exterior too.

Thanks all, it seems that most suppliers stock this type of vinyl in all but black!! Due to timing I have now found a similar style which the customer is happy with so have ordered that for him.

Martin – Location wise it is to go behind a bar area in a customers outbuilding below a very long mirror. Indeed it is short term vinyl but for indoors where it is going it will be fine, it is a real bugger to take off as well as it leaves a horrible residue.

    Thanks all

Many suppliers might be able to get their hands on some, but certainly not hold it on the shelf. they will simply buy it in and put a margin on it.
Find out exactly what width they offer too, don’t just go on a linear metre price as this stuff comes in from 12inch wide up to a metre wide.
You also lose about 25mm each side of the width due to manufacturing marks/flaws the entire length.
If you call round and actually try and acquire the product you will soon find out they don’t stock it and just how big a lead time they need to get it to you. some don’t even bother coming back to you when they know you want it within a few days.
as i said, we buy this type of media occasionally but often in large amounts up to 500 linear metres at a time.
