Does anyone know if its possible to connect the roland pc-600 regardless of cost to usb?

I just bought a top end laptop only to realize it has no parallel port 🙁 only usb’s so no way of connecting my machine:(

i know there is parallel to usb adapters but these dont work on all printers and i have my doubts to whether they will work a cutter,i cant find any info anywhere and was hoping someone may have got this working already

    thank you

USB port to parallel IEEE 1284 printer port
about £20 cable (ebay) you can’t do the other way around, a USB printer without a parallel to parallel port because of the serial/parallel bus conversion

Confusing but you can, type usb to parallel in search and they’ll come up 😉

We use em on our Macs, not a pretty sight, the pc hate getting on with Macs, especially when Macs are running XP ( and X of course ) 😉

I am going to use the pc-600 just for small logos, pictures etc.

will these cables on ebay do the trick ?

i hope theres a solution or there goes £1400 down the pan as the laptop will be no use to me otherwise 🙁

The PC600 has an input parallel.
The laptop has USB, the cable will plug into your USB port and will connect to the printer port of the 600.

It may slow it down slightly as the USB bus is far far faster than the IEEE 1284 bitrate and you’ll load a driver to convert it.

Yep it should work fine 😉

For the first time I agree with outline, but the USB to parallel cables work better on XP and can have some issues on Win 98.

Personally I would get an Ethernet print server. They are a bit more expensive than a USB to parallel, but are way quicker and more reliable.

I got my cable from ebay and it works ok.

only problem is i have to set up a network and choose the printer from a network to get it to work because my sign software does not pick it up.
