    Hi All,

    Thanks for looking.

I’ve got a client who would like to create a halo effect on the back of a stainless built up logo, the logo face is to be powder coated to a pantone colour, 381 green uncoated.

He would like the halo to be a close match to the face colour.

I have used colour changing rgb led’s in the past, I still have one as a sample in my shop. I can’t make the colour he is after.

I’m thinking about putting a clear polycarb back on the stainless logo then printing a few shades darker than the face colour on clear vinyl, sticking this to the back and putting white LED’s inside facing backwards.

Does anyone else have any different solutions?

    Hi Brad,

LEDs can be made to specific colours but the binning process for this would be a headache and no supplier would stock every single colour option, so as far as i am aware it is not done.
RGB LEDs are great for mixing between the standard 8-16 colours but finding perfect colour matches again would be a headache and would need expensive equipment.

Coloured vinyl on the backtray with White LED is the method i recommend because it will get you the closest match but you do lose some intensity depending on the colour specified.

    thanks for the reply Rob.

It was the method we chose and the client loves it.

I have just been sent a catalog through from Bright white. some of their products look really interesting. Light tape, neon replacement wire and miniature leds.

Looking forward to ordering a few bits to experiment with.
