Hi, we have an old but still fantastic PNC950 cutter, still used almost every day – we are in Southampton – does anybody know who services these machines?

Hi, generally its a good work horse, firstly I just think it would be good to give it some TLC

but the main problem I have is its starting to cut with a jagged edge, very bad on small lettering

    Thanks

When was the nylon cutting strip last replaced?

I use to have a old PNC960 – I would just take the covers off and give it a blow out with canned air. Replace the cutting strip & blade. Lube the blade holder with a thin oil as the bearing may be not running smooth. Wipe some very thin oil or PTFE spray along the bar the head moves along & lube the cogs. Don’t over lubricate anything as in my mind that just attract more dust n cr*p.

They are pretty straight forward machines, In my view I would save your money and do it yourself if you feel competent.

    Just my 50p’s worth.

    Tim.

what you would need to do to rectify this is
1 change the blade for a new one
    2 change the cutting strip
3 carefully remove all casing until you can remove the casing on top of the cutting head, you will see that there are two pieces of metal each side that acts as a spring to keep the unit in place. you can carefully bend these back to give tension on the guide, as these springs do tend to slacken after several years use.
    hope this helps..
