  • do i overlap the vinyl on light-box?

Posted by Brian Little on 12 April 2006 at 19:33

hi folks im doing a light box just now Looks like im gona have to do the vynil in 2 sections .Because its a translucent vynil am i better to overlap it slightly ? or just line it up exactly .The reason i ask is that im a bit worried that when the lights on there this dark line .As it is the company want to change the add on it every 2 months or so …so i dont suppose it matters to much .But i want it to look as good as i can

    Regards Brian

I would overlap slightly. Translucent is more stable but may shrink a tiny bit.

brian, we had a bad experience with overlapping

we did a print on the versacamm for a menu board and overlapped by about 2-3mm, it stood out like a flashing beacon when the light went on.

Now if i do a similar job i tell the customer and try to make a feature of the area/ line.

    cheers

any overlap, as Steven says will show, it will be darker,
You do need to overlap to allow for shrinking but 1 or 2 mil is plenty between colours,
but try and avoid tiling, it tends to stick out like a sore thumb
