    Hi

Recently being amazed by what a flatbed LED UV printer can do I’m interested in finding out more about UV inks as well as flat bed printers. I feel this could be the next step for us but would like to find out as much as I can in regards to the ink and pros and cons of a flatbed. We will keep out Roland XR640 for roll media but as we do a lot of mounted prints as well as laser cutting of acrylic signs and panels this could be a good step forward in expanding our offerings.

Would love to hear from any LED UV and flat bed printer users even if privately as it;s a large investment and want ti make sure we get it right and hear direct from the end users.

    Many thanks

    Warren

me too as most of my work is flat panelling 4ftx4ft ot 8ftx4ft skybond 3-6 month usage signs and think that a flat bed would save me alot of time compared to the old plotter and versacamm

We have a few of them. I don’t know a lot about them other than setting up the art file that our production department does the pre-press preparation. I do know that they have nearly knocked out much need for silk-screening any more though. I agree it’s definitely where the industry probably is heading more or less. I don’t think I can say much about the exact details of what we do.

You can check out a gallery of photos that show the outcome (just click through the flip book):

It’s difficult to even tell that these weren’t screen printed. It allows us to print pretty much any bitmap texture. I think the speed and cleanup (environmental impact also) is much better than screening.

Sorry, I wish I could divulge more about it. Good luck with your decision. I’m sure someone else on here may chime in as well.

    edit:
I guess I should have mentioned that some of the solid background colors are still done in a spray booth though.

One of my customers recently bought the new JFX from Granthams. Now that is a cracking machine!! Try speaking to Jamie there, he’s a nice bloke and will tell it how it is as he’s not a salesman.
