I thought I would share this bit of fun with you all,
a couple of weeks ago I had a nice phone call from a local young lady asking if she could buy various bits of different coloured vinyl off me, she wanted to ‘upgrade’ her old banger into a ‘D I S C O C A R’ 😆 then enter it in a local village Gala.
It transpired her hubby plays drums as well, so when they popped in to see me we got on like old music buddies 😎 I cut the name of their band in Pink (her choice) & wacked it on the bonnet & she went off with a handful of vinyl offcuts.
This afternoon Ali (the young ladie’s name) popped back to proudly show me her work, WOW made me smile 😀 , she cut all the squares by hand and I think she did a fantastic job! The car is now her pride & joy, all shiney & definately a one off. 😉 😉
    Cheers, Steve.

Excellent!!!! Most definately a girly car….. pinks, bright, almost sparkly but missing the fluffy ……. would have been great with holographic vinyl aswell 😉 I should think she gets noticed in that! Bless her!!!!! 😛

    Hi Carrie,
It is fun isn’t it, Ali is so proud of it!!
On the gala day all the band members were dressed up in 70’s gear, afro wigs & loud clothes 😛 Loads of balloons n streamers (hot)

Trouble is she drives like a lunatic 😮 now everyone knows it’s her so she’s being a bit more careful (for a woman driver 😮 ) (ohh steve, don’t say that, slap me hard!!! 😳 )

It reminds me of some lino we had in our kitchen in the 70s. It kinda warms your heart to see a customer do such a brillo job of something like this. It obviously hasn’t just been thrown on at random and looks supergroovy.

    Nik, what’s a “beezer”?

    Cor Blimey! 😮 😮 How’d I miss this one 🙄 (?)

As Big G has said, obviously hasn’t been thrown on! Reminds me of a sci-fi program that was on a while ago with these alien thingies that kept chopping ppls heads off 😕 Thats not good is it… okay, um, I’ll go with the 70’s analogy 😀

Looking at the piccy though, there are bits of vinyl going across the gaps between door and panel, so I presume its all been laid out before hand. Definately a car that will stand out from the crowd though 😀

Thanks for all the groovy comments guys, I will pass them on to Ali.
One other thing that impressed me about this budding designer was her request for a ‘Swirl’ to go on the bonnet. I couldn’t quickly find an ideal swirl so Ali said, “Don’t worry I’ll draw you 1”
And she came round the next day with a wonderful hand drawn swirl, A4 wide, in black felt tip, I quickly scanned it & converted it & it came out bloody well 😆

So Ali is happy to share her swirl with the uksignboards bunch, just do me a favour and share photos of it being used, Ali would love to see it!

    Cheers, Steve

    Dewi, just read your bit

Yes, Ali put some on wet (I gave her a 10 sec tutorial with a spray bottle)
but all the roof was done dry & she played about with the joins to make them look right, impressive!…. I think I’ll offer her a job 😕 She’s training to be a florist at the moment.

Big G, yes mate very heart warming & Super groovy 😀

    Cheers, Steve
