With all due respect Ryan, giving away free fonts is not an issue, but some here may have a problem with seeing someone swapping purchased fonts.

No different to swapping Brians Outlines, or Stevos designs, or whatever.

I’ll happily give away anything I have downloaded from free sites, but would not give away my letterheadfonts… for one, Jill would kill me because the letterhead guys are her friends.

Not being critical, just trying to state the obvious.

Maybe someone needs to list a things you can do and cant do in that case.

When someone asks if i have a specific font and its one of many that were purchased on a disc, i will try to help.

I cant see the difference between that and the above?

Maybe im missing something as i am not trying to step on anyones toes or annoy anyone but i find that comment a bit confusing as i am pretty sure that when other people have asked for fonts they dont really care where they originated from?

Apologies though if i somehow offended anybody as it was not my intention, the opposite in fact.

I know what you say Ryan, and I’ve no doubt been guilty of that myself in the past.

Personally. I’ll google it first, if I find it as a purchase font, I’ll supply the link. If I don’t find it, and I have it on my drive, I’ll sumise that Ive probably got it from a free list, and will likely offer it then.

A lot of the fonts asked for are, I suspect, clones of originals, and I have no problem if they are in the public domain, but I personaly think it just comes down to common sense and, I suppose, it is an ethics question.

Stevo raised this issue some time ago, and Brian has raised similar issues in the past, I just think it is a valid point, and as we perhaps don’t like someone to copy our designs, why should these other ‘designers’ be any different.

Copying purchased fonts and givng them away is no different, in my mind, that copying DVD’s, CD’s, etc etc, and we have all seen the warnings about piracy being illegal in those fields. I see it as the same thing I suppose.

I don’t want to come across as the conscience of everyone here, I just took the opportunity to raise the issue. I don’t wish to offend anyone either. I have been guilty of the same thing in the past with vehicle outlines.

Frankly, I am not sure how anyone could complain about buying some of these fonts at say $US29 – $US35. We are business people, running a business, just like the businesses trying to make a living selling fonts.

As an option, we could perhaps ask anyone that has the font to supply us the text we need in an ai or eps?

I don’t have the answers, and I suppose it is up to Rob in the final analysis, as I say, just raising an issue that I know some on here have.

Ok, i get the point of the issues raised.

Difficult area as you have mentioned.

I will bear it in the mind for the future, i think your method of (if i have it i assume it was free) is a good one to go by.

This is the 1st i have had to purchase.
As mentioned, the purchase price of $21.00 is one i can handle 😀
