Im not sure EXACTLY what the first one is regarding the “detailed” section , but it sounds like a stepper , IE a motor that advances part of a revolution for each pulse it is fed.
The motor revolves in steps , little jerky movements , lets say 256 movements for every revolution (microstepper). (I might be wrong here , the frst motor might not be a stepper at all??)

A DC servo controlled motor is a motor that revolves very smoothly , ie no discrete steps , but more importantly it has a shaft encoder to tell it EXACTLY where it is.
A stepper (or non servo controlled) motor has NO feedback , IE it just advances 7 steps and if there is a mis-step , then its tough luck , a Servo controled motoer can “mis-step” or go someplace it shouldn’t
So what does this mean in our industry.
Lets take an engraving machine , essentially to get to a point on a piece of material 7 inches up and along from the origin (let’s for argument sakes say 1 step is 1 inch )you can say go up 7 steps and along 7 steps , or you can say go to a point which is 7″ up and 7″ along.
The stepper (or non feedback motor) will just follow instructions and , as I say , if there is a misstep or a glitch , it will NOT be at 7″,7″ , and it will start its operations from the wrong point. The DC servo motor will use it’s shaft encoder to sense its position and WILL go to the point 7″,7″ no matter whether the motor has a glitch or not. It will also engrave a LOT smoother and will be able to find positions easier as well as being able to go back to the EXACT point where , lets say , a bit has broken.
Essentially , DC servo motors are much more desireable in our equipment then steppers.

Yes it is a stepper motor can anyone tell me the difference in a Stepper and a Servo Motor which one is best and y? which are the main differences but all this for the vinyl cutter only plzz
